It is with great hesitation that We write this post ....
there is so much controversy about this disorder..and writing about it leaves us open to hurtful comments.....
I'm sure a lot of people have heard about or seen the movie Sybil...
I assure you (at least through my eyes) that the story was very much sensationalized...
Though Sybil is a major learning tool for those desiring more knowledge about DID....
It does not represent the majority of multiples existing today....
I'm hopin with this blog ..
to help educate and support those with DID and...
those desiring to learn about it..
So now...let me introduce you to US.....
Bonnie...Me...known as the host or core....I am 53 yrs old... 3 teens..and the main author of this blog.. I fear social situations ... I love animals.. I like to be alone.. (but need my kids near) I am extremely trustworthy...but you have to earn my trust.. I love listening to people one on one...
Ju Ju... somewhere between the age of 27-31...gave birth and helped Bonnie raise the children... took the abuse from her then husband. Ju Ju is severely depressed and often thinks about taking our life..She is also capable of being in your face.. does not trust..
Bongo ... between the age of 17---- We do not know where she ends... we are assuming she ends when Ju Ju was born... she acts talks and thinks as a teenager...she is our protector and steps in when we can not proceed....she also has suffered her own pain.. She believes in sex, drugs and rock and roll..she is the most active of us... everyone loves her...she is most social
Sam ... A very special 9 yr old girl....Sam holds the memories of the abuse.. she has no idea that it is over.. she is the closest to Bonnie.. She is the only one that can see all inside. She has taught Me (Bonnie) more about myself then I ever knew.. she is the only one that is left handed...We share a pink bunny given to us by P ..named PBB
Jen ... A 5 yr old girl... she sits..sucks her thumb and rocks...as of yet she doesn't speak..
Dear Heart ... She is 73 and the image of my maternal grandmother...someone we loved dearly...Dear Hearts only purpose was to take care of the younger ones.. She has not been seen or heard from in months...
Liz Beth ... She is believed to be 13..was born from a rape in the girls bathroom at school.. she thinks she can drive... she has not been seen or heard from in months..
Donnie ... He is also known as death... he is 8 years old..pale face ..black hair... we do not know his purpose...
Mi Mi .... The newest of us to be found... she is 6 years old...she shows us her age by holding up fingers..as of yet she doesn't speak nor do we know her purpose...
Lil Bits ... A bright eyed curly haired 7 yr old girl.. she loves easily.. she shares memories of abuse..not sure if she is her own persona.. or if she split from Sam...
Someone ... This is one that we have heard about... he is a big strong man...we do not know if he is his own persona or a fragment...he also has not been seen or heard from in months ..and we do not know his purpose..

No hurtful words from me LOL. Let me see, we have spent long periods of time together. Bonnie, I know the best. Bongo would come second. Lil Bits scared the daylights out of me when she decided to drive me to a restaurant and I wasn't aware of her presence until after. JuJu? She doesn't scare me, but I'm scared for Bonnie when she presents. And then, of course, I know Sam. She has talked to me and has drawn many pictures for me.
ReplyDeleteIn reality, I have accepted you for who you are, all of you. You are one of the most considerate, kind-hearted, compassionate woman I know. I wouldn't give up your friendship for anything. You have always been there for me, even as Bongo, and we have seen some pretty sad days as well as 'laughing until we cry' days. Either way, it is a genuine friendship that will outlast anything. Love to you Bonnie and all of the rest ♥♥♥
Thank you, Mary, for your loving and supportive comments. One of the greatest gifts that family and friends can give someone with DID is unconditional love and acceptance. Bonnie has taken a huge step in publishing information about all of her alters....and she is able to do that because of love and support like yours. Thank you for walking this journey with her.

Martha, Thank you so much for your prayers and love. Bonnie has been working very, very hard to process the trauma and move toward healing...it is a long journey, but with friends like you to love and support her, the journey is doable. P

How were all the personas recognized? I noticed that Bonnie wrote 'purpose' ~ what does it mean? Does the alteration happen when triggered by a memory or is it spontaneous?

Melissa...please feel free to ask questions...One of the best resources for DID is the Dissociative Identity Sourcebook By Deborah Bray Haddock, M.Ed...it is technical enough to educate therapists and understandable enough for the general public. Bonnie has been aware of the alters at different times. Alters are created out of need...and sometimes the alter has a need to split. The switching can be triggered by flashbacks or other emotionally difficult situations. P
